The IHDI is located in central Kentucky, in Lexington, in the heart of the Bluegrass region. The Kentucky UAP has grown by 50% over the past three years, and presently employs approximately 60 full-time faculty and staff, with 35 current projects focused at the regional, state, multi-state, and national levels.
The University of Kentucky, Interdisciplinary Human Development Institute is recruiting a Project Coordinator for a large scale national research project on the inclusion of preschool children with and without disabilities in state standards and accountability systems. This three-year federally funded project is being implementing in partnership with the Council for Exceptional Children Division for Early Childhood. Major research activities will focus on the identification of appropriate practices for preschool inclusion in State Standards Based Accountability Systems (SSBAS), how young children should be assessed, and the relationships between recommended practices and SSBAS. Activities will include national focus groups (in collaboration with NAEYC, NEC*TAS and NHSA), in-depth state level case studies to investigate policies and practices, and validation of a set of recommended practices related to preschool inclusion in standards and accountability systems.
