Outreach Director

The Montana University Affiliated Rural Institute on Disabilities (The Rural Institute) is seeking a vibrant individual with credentials in Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, or Special Education (low incidence disabilities) to serve as Outreach Director for two projects awarded to the Rural Institute. The Rural Institute is the Montana University Affiliated Program of the University of Montana and is designed to improve services for people with disabilities through the provision of interdisciplinary training, community supports and services, training and information dissemination, technical assistance, and research.

One project is the MonTECH Project which is charged with developing a statewide system of technology-related assistance that will ensure that all Montanans with disabilities have equitable access to assistive technology devices and services. The Montana Technology Access Center (MTAC) is part of this system of services located at the University of Montana. MTAC is an assistive technology demonstration and evaluation center, providing assistive technology services to individuals throughout the state. The Outreach Director will share clinical responsibilities for the operation of this lab with a physical therapist who is currently on staff. Whenever appropriate, this individual will also serve as a member of the assistive technology evaluation team that performs fee for service evaluations at the MTAC facility. This individual will support training activities of the MonTECH Project, particularly those targeted to audiences of therapists.

The second project is part of a contract awarded by the Office of Public Instruction to the Rural Institute to establish and test a low incidence support team in two regions of the state. The Outreach Director will provide therapeutic input to this support team and will assist in the coordination and evaluation of project outcomes.
